Yvette N. Fernandez | Entertainment Writer A web veteran of alt.music.hawaiian and soc.culture.hawaii, Yvette continues to participate in a number of online communities locally and abroad. An audiophile, singer, actress and writer, Yvette earned her BA in Print Journalism from the University of Southern California. She has worked as a reporter with the Honolulu Advertiser, co-authored a Kumu Kahua play, and regularly journals. Peter Li | Arts Writer Peter covers museums, galleries and theatre. In addition to working full-time as a programmer, he has worked with Bamboo Ridge Press for several years, serving as its webmaster and all-purpose geek, and in October 2001 he spoke on a panel at the Bamboo Ridge Writers Institute entitled "Technology and Local Literature." Burt Lum | Technology Writer Burt is president of Mindwind Labs, which develops broadband interactive services. He also writes "Bytemarks," a weekly column about the web in the Honolulu Advertiser. Burt previously served as president and CEO of NetEnterprise and business development manager of the Maui High Performance Computing Center. Burt received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington in 1978 and an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford in 1981. >>> burt.lum@hawaiinews.com
Ryan Kawailani Ozawa | Webmaster Ryan has been active in writing, publishing, graphic design and online communities for over a decade. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Ka Leo O Hawai`i (UH-Manoa) and Ke Kalahea (UH-Hilo) and was a founding partner of University aVenue, an alternative campus newspaper. Now an online manager for a local bank, he previously worked as Manager of IT & Communications for the Pacific Basin Economic Council. He also maintains several websites, and offers freelance services ranging from computer consulting to public relations. Ryan has a Journalism degree from the University of Hawai`i, and is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Asian American Journalists Association, and Online News Association. Amy Wright | Science Writer Amy moved to Hawai`i in February 2003 after completing her Master of Science degree specializing in Geological Oceanography at the University of South Florida-St. Petersburg. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Geology (minoring in Geography) at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
