The Kapahulu Branch of American Savings Bank was robbed this morning. Investigators believe the suspect — described as a Caucasian male in his 20s with a silver ring in his lower lip — may be the same person who robbed the University Branch of Bank of Hawaii on March 26. Turning to the public for help, CrimeStoppers also announced today that it will be adding its logo and phone number to the side of 300 police cars.

This morning's robbery occured shortly before noon. According to CrimeStoppers, the suspect entered the bank, walked up to the teller, and passed a demand note stating that he was armed. The suspect fled on foot mauka on Kapahulu Avenue. No weapon was observed.

CrimeStoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information which results in the arrest of a wanted person or the solving of reported cases.

To make it easier for the public to reach CrimeStoppers, the agency will unveil its HPD patrol car decals tomorrow moring. The stickers were supported by HPD and the Honolulu City Council, and the cost of designing and producing them was donated by a local business.
