CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department's Vehicular Homicide Section need your assistance in locating any witnesses who have information about a Dec. 27 motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in front of the Mother Rice Preschool, 2707 S. King Street. Calls are being taken directly by Sergeant Patricia Healey of the Vehicular Homicide Section at 529-3499.

On Saturday, December 27, just before midnight, a Caucasian male, in his 50's, was crossing S. King Street in the mauka direction toward the Fukuya restaurant when he was struck by a light colored Toyota.

The vehicle was traveling kokohead in the lane next to the center line. Witnesses stated that the vehicle attempted to avoid the victim, but was unsuccessful. After hitting the victim, the vehicle slowed, but failed to stop and was last seen heading toward the freeway on ramp. The victim was transported to the hospital where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

Witnesses told the police that a pickup truck, motorcycle, and older model Chevy attempted to follow the suspect vehicle. Those motorists are also asked to contact the police.

Suspect Vehicle A special request is being sent out to any and all auto body repair shops and new or used auto parts dealers to immediately report any information that may be consistent with the damages of the suspect vehicle.
