Before the web, but after our quirky GOPHER days, e-mail was our primary method of distribution. In its heydey, The Hawaii NewsList reached several thousand former Hawaii residents and Hawaii lovers in over 60 countries around the world. While the reach of the World Wide Web has lessened the need for such a direct lifeline to island headlines, getting Hawaii news summaries via e-mail is still useful and convenient for many.
E-mail distribution of the Hawaii NewsList is handled through the Yahoo! Groups service (formerly eList and OneList). The HawaiiNews group provides an online archive of postings and web-based subscription management. (There is also a chat feature and other bells and whistles, although they're not regularly used.)
The quickest way to get HawaiiNews.com Updates and other local news via e-mail is to enter your address below and click 'Subscribe.'
You can also send a blank e-mail message to hawaiinews-subscribe@yahoogroups.com, or visit the HawaiiNews group at Yahoo!
Note: Using the form above or the e-mail method is recommended for those who do not wish to additionally sign up for all Yahoo! web services (via a Yahoo! ID). While a Yahoo! ID gives you access to many more features and sections of Yahoo! websites, it also requires personal information and greater susceptibility to unsolicited commercial e-mail.
